To the right, the Inn runs cold and fast through the Engadin, still carrying the character of the high Alps. Nearby, glacier-fed water from the Bernina range joins the river system, helping give it that pale blue-gray color and restless surface.

From here, the water begins a much longer journey east: out of Switzerland, through Austria and Germany, into the Danube at Passau, and eventually to the Black Sea.
