On 24 November 2024, people voted.

A candidate who had reported zero campaign spending finished first.

Another candidate challenged the result.

The domestic ballots were recounted.

The diaspora ballots were not recounted.

On 2 December, the Constitutional Court unanimously rejected the challenge.

It confirmed and validated the result of the first round.

The second round was set for 8 December.

For Romanians abroad, voting began earlier.

On 6 December, polling stations opened outside the country.

People arrived.

They showed their documents.

They received ballots.

They marked them.

They placed them into the process.

That same day, the Constitutional Court unanimously annulled the presidential election.

By 17:00, 48,068 people abroad had voted.

The election had been annulled.
