Travel in Life

One passenger boarded the flight.

That was the count.

One.

He found his seat, put his bag overhead, and sat down. One seat occupied, one meal declined, two cups of coffee.

Then the airplane landed.

The passenger walked out of the airport.

A car was waiting.

At the hotel, a room was ready for three nights.

Dinner that evening was for two.

The next morning, breakfast was one. By noon there were two admissions to an exhibition.

That evening there were four tickets at the theater.

Afterward, dinner was four.

The following morning began with one coffee and became lunch for three.

There was a train in the afternoon.

Two seats.

One destination.

That evening nobody went anywhere.

The room remained occupied.

The next day added another exhibition, another restaurant, a taxi across town, and two seats at a concert.

Three nights had passed.

In the morning, the room became available again.

A car arrived outside the hotel.

At the airport: boarding pass, bag, seat.

The aircraft departed.

Several hours later, one passenger walked out of another airport.

One.
