Reflection: The Art of Pausing at Go
There is a small but sacred pause at the moment of joy — that heartbeat between feeling grateful and moving on.
For so long, I’ve rushed past it, like a player in Monopoly too eager to keep circling the board. I roll the dice, pass Go, and forget to collect my $200 — my quiet reward for simply arriving, for doing the work, for being here.
Today, I see it differently. The moment of “thank you” is not the end of gratitude, but its beginning. It’s the breath I can take before the next turn, the warm acknowledgment that I am both the one who plays and the one who earns.
I don’t have to hurry through happiness. I don’t have to rush from pride to the next pursuit. The thrill can stay — I can let it move through me, not as a spark that burns out, but as a steady flame.
So I pause here at Go. I breathe. I collect what’s mine — the satisfaction, the pride, the love that I’ve cultivated through patience and effort.
And I whisper to myself, softly and completely:
I made it here. I deserve this joy. I’ll stay a little while before I roll again.
