Morning Emotional Preparation: “Gratitude for the Rain”

Take a moment before you begin the day.
Sit where you can see the light—muted, softened by clouds—and listen.
If rain is falling, let the sound find you.
If it has passed, feel its trace in the air: the clean scent, the cooler touch, the revived green of the earth.

1. Grounding Breath
Inhale slowly, counting to four.
Feel the breath rise from your belly to your chest.
Hold it gently—then exhale, letting your shoulders drop.
Do this three times.
Each breath is a small clearing in the forest of thought.

2. Reflection
Whisper quietly to yourself:

“This morning, I am grateful for the rain.”

Grateful for the way it softens the desert’s edge,
for how it wakes the sleeping seeds,
for how it teaches patience—drop by drop.
Grateful that nature remembers balance even when we forget.

Let that gratitude widen.
What else has quietly nourished you overnight?
Who or what replenishes you without asking for recognition?

3. Intention
As you move into the day, carry the rain’s lesson with you:
gentleness can be powerful,
persistence can be healing,
and renewal often begins unseen.
