The English name for the plant bugambilia is bougainvillea. It is a flowering plant that is native to South America and is known for its vibrant bracts. 

Characteristics: 

  • Appearance A thorny, evergreen vine with dark green leaves and small white, pink or yellow flowers 
  • Bracts Modified leaves that surround the flowers and come in many colors, including pink, red, purple, orange, and white 
  • Growth Can grow as a vine, shrub, or tree, and can reach heights of 15–40 feet 
  • Blooming In tropical climates, the bracts bloom all year, with the most blooms in spring and autumn
