Katakolo is a seaside town in the municipality of Pyrgos in western Elis, Greece. It is situated on a headland overlooking the Ionian Sea and separating the Gulf of Kyparissia from the rest of the Ionian. It is 11 km west of Pyrgos.
One of the main attractions in Katakolon is the ancient site of Olympia, a UNESCO Heritage World Site, which is located just a 30-minute drive away from the town. Olympia was the site of the ancient Olympic Games, which were held every four years in honor of the god Zeus.
