Artemis 1, officially Artemis I and formerly Exploration Mission-1, is an ongoing uncrewed Moon-orbiting mission. As the first major spaceflight of NASA’s Artemis program, Artemis 1 marks the return of the agency to lunar exploration as established by the Apollo program decades earlier. Its main objective is to test the Orion spacecraft, especially its heat shield, in preparation for subsequent Artemis missions. The 212-foot-tall (64.6-meter-tall) core stage of the Space Launch System rocket houses two large cryogenic liquid propellant tanks that collectively contain 733,000 gallons (2.8 million liters) of liquid propellant. These missions seek to reestablish a human presence on the Moon and demonstrate technologies and business approaches needed for future scientific studies, including exploration of Mars.

Cinematic video I put together of the launch of Artemis-1 Music is OST from The Martian (2015) Disclaimer: I included external sound for the launch from an STS launch As the startup sequence and overall setup is near identical I think it’s fair game None of this footage is mine. Most of it is public domain
